About cats

The animal in this photo is a cat. Cats are carnivorous mammals. Cats are pets, they live with humans. There are about 600 million cats around the world! In some places like Egypt, Japan and China, cats were sacred animals.

Domestic cats live in houses, with humans, but there are wild cats too. They live outside. They are carnivorous: they like meat and fish. Females can have five - six kittens a year.

Pollution is a problem for cats, because they also live in cities. So they breathe polluted air.
